The international rules-based order is breaking faster than it can be repaired. For liberal democracies, comfortable assumptions upon which our security and freedoms have rested for decades are unravelling.

Relying solely on inherited strategic orthodoxies risks limiting our ability to understand, respond to, and shape the emerging order. A new, adaptive statecraft is needed for the preservation and success of Britain and other liberal democracies.

Future Statecraft aims to advance that project by testing assumptions, asking difficult questions, and exploring new ways of thinking about modern statecraft – with a particular interest in how liberal and progressive traditions adapt to this new era.
